.•:*¨¨*:•. A Book Illustration .•:*¨¨*:•.

This is the place where you can find either the old and new, the sweet and the scary, the traditional and the eccentric Book Illustration, for children or grown-ups.
In this group we collect all the sets that you wish you could see in a book of tales... so don't be shy and share your artworks :)

---------
A pair of simple rules:

1) Only Art & Expression sets are accepted;
2) Remember that the aim of this group is to be a collection of book illustrations - possibly books of fairytales or adventure tales; doll sets are welcome, but don't use mainly photographs and real/realistic images... we appreciate fantasy above all;
3) Have fun :)

The Collagists

The Creative Coalition

The Creative Coalition

Welcome to the Creative Coalition - an art-based group. All contests are no limit, 1 week and must be new sets..unless otherwise directed! :)

This is a group for those of us who find solace in creativity. We are creative, open-minded and support one another. No submission will be rejected unless it is hateful or a blatant copy. So, here's a bit about the group in a nutshell...
1. Preferred Submissions: Art sets, including dolls, abstracts, interiors/exteriors, collage, etc. as opposed to strictly editorial fashion sets but as stated above no submission will be rejected.

2. Contests will be held - some judged by moderators and some will be up for group vote.

3. Kindness and encouragement for everyone. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If you have any questions please PM me!

Cabinet of Curiosities

Cabinet of Curiosities

The room of wondrous, bizarre, macabre, monstrous and beautiful things, where miracles can happen just around the corner...
A collection of phantastic imagery..let your imagination go wild!!!

Fashion set makers, please notice: Fashion sets are allowed here, but only sets which are really creative, artistic and a bit strange...for example steampunk, cyberpunk, dystopian, subculture...everything that is weird and not the fashion we see every day on the streets. Sorry but i delete every fashion set that is too "everyday". You have your own groups for that, ne? :-)

Cabinets of curiosities in history:
Cabinets of curiosities (also known as Wunderkammer, Cabinets of Wonder, or wonder-rooms) were encyclopedic collections of types of objects whose categorical boundaries were, in Renaissance Europe, yet to be defined. Modern science would categorize the objects included as belonging to natural history (sometimes faked), geology, ethnography, archaeology, religious or historical relics, works of art (including cabinet paintings) and antiquities.

Aulis to Shangri-La: Myth & Folklore Challenge

Aulis to Shangri-La: Myth & Folklore Challenge

Because there wasn't one, here's a straight-up world mythology and folklore challenge, although any set inspired by myths, religion and folklore is welcome.

The Challenge is composed of three nine-set categories and three free style sets, for a total of thirty sets. With the exception of the final three sets, all prompts are broad enough to be interpreted however you choose. Any set style goes, but each set has to reflect either a specific myth, character or tradition. The suggestions in parentheses are only examples; many more possibilities exist. I've tried to keep the challenge flexible, so it can theoretically be completed as many times as you have the inclination to make sets for it.

Gods and Spirits (any nine gods or demigods from any nine different areas):

North America (Native American, Eskimo, Inuit)
South America (Aztec, Maya, Inca, Candomble)
The Caribbean
British Isles (Celtic, Welsh, Scottish)
Northern and Western Europe (Norse, Frankish, Basque, Baltic, Lapp)
Southern Europe (Greek/Roman, Etruscan, Minoan)
Eastern Europe (Slavic, Hungarian, Romanian, Romani)
North Africa (Berber, Egyptian)
Sub-Saharan Africa (Yoruba, Bushongo, Masai, Zulu)
Middle East (Persian, Islamic, Semitic, Babylonian, Gnostic)
Central and Northern Asian (Turkish, The Stans, Tibetan, Mongolian, Siberian)
India
East Asian (China, Japan, Korea)
Southeast Asian (Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia)
Australia and Oceania (Aborigine, Maori, Polynesian, Hawaiian)

Vision Quest

Dealer's Choice (any one of the three groups; can't mix and match):

1. Pretend you have a spirit animal and make a set about it.
2. If you were a mythical personage, who would be your nemesis?
3. And you? What would you be like in myth world?

OR

1. Make a set about one of you least favorite myths, fairytales or personages.
2. Make a set about one of your favorite (childhood) myths or fairytales.
3. If mythological beings were like patron saints (not that patron saints aren't mythological), who would be yours?

OR

1. Remake one of your first ten sets as if it pertained to a mythical personage. At least one of the original items must be involved.
2. Double up: Make an alternate version of a set you've already made for this challenge.
3. Make a set about an event in your life as if it were a myth.

Then the Wagnerian soprano sang for you. Huzzah! Collect your work and send me the collection link. We need to populate that Hall of Fame.
